KETT TURTON -A modest Start interview , may 2014

Early on, acting has always been second nature to Kett. When he began expressing an interest in performing and storytelling, his mother enrolled him in an after school program that would embrace and cultivate his growing talents. Kett attended 'Arts Umbrella' located in Vancouver, Canada, from the age of 5 up to about 17. These drama courses encouraged the students to dress up. They had a choice of bringing something from home or choosing an outfit, or pieces out of a trunk full of articles of clothing. His teacher then helped strengthen the imaginations of him and his classmates, telling them to think up worlds and inhabit them. Kett enjoyed making his own costumes to wear into the after school drama program. Fondly, he reminisces on the days he spent at 'Arts Umbrella'.

Kett cites his mother as his biggest influence & supporter. While remaining very close with his father, he lived with his mother in his youth, she was the one to notice his natural inclination toward theater & self expression, supporting his already existing talents. For a time she immersed herself in Shakespeare's literature, taking to reading Kett the same stories before bed, this simple display of love, had a profound impact on him. The places she took him with those stories, opened up his world & expanded his mind, while making him feel like the tiniest part of a big picture. The feeling he received moved him so, it made him want to share that same sensation with others. He promptly began working for his desired career.

He finds himself, an ever constant student. Even though he has been performing for years, he still thirsts for knowledge & different techniques on how to deliver a performance or on executing a character. He went on to achieve a BA at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in the UK. He's found traveling to be one of the greatest joys in life. Due to the demands of his career, he's traveled from Vancouver, Canada to California, then London & now New York, while on location he takes in and studies the different cultures and environments that surround him. In the business for well over a decade now, Kett has a number of film, TV & theater credits under his belt, in all different types of genres. A current goal of his, is to play a character who has a lengthy & multi-layered story. He has thought about and looked into writing & directing and looks forward to doing so in the future.

Kett can be seen in films such as, 'Saved!', 'Gypsy 83','Blade: Trinity' and more recently 'Wrath of the Titans'. He has also starred in TV series like Stephen King's 'Kingdom Hospital', 'Fringe', 'Smallville' & 'X-Files'; As well as TV movies like 'Ladies Night', 'The Five People You Meet In Heaven' & 'Outrage in Glenridge' (..yes, it's about Glenridge, NJ. You should watch it.).

In the Artist's Own Words: “So in a way I don't feel I was ever not acting. It was just called something else back then. I feel it's very much a natural extension of my character.” - Kett Turton

“Training at RADA and living in London was a dream come true. It happened in a bit of a strange order. I'd been working for about 9 years and then in the middle of everything decided I'd go to school, to learn about what I'd been doing all those years. Some people thought it was an odd decision, but I knew there wouldn't be another opportunity in my life to do it. ” - Kett Turton

“ It's hard to describe where it's taken me spiritually, of course. It's not done with me yet. Maybe one day I can look at it and see it for what it is. ” (in regards to acting) - Kett Turton
